What is the ITTUN?

The ITTUN (Initial Teacher Training University Network) is a collaborative working group established by institutions offering initial teacher education programmes focused specifically on international education. This includes the Ecolint Institute and Durham University who are two of the founding institutional members. The aim of the network is:

  • to challenge commonly held assumptions about what it means to be an international educator
  • to focus on pedagogical, ethical and philosophical underpinnings of international education
  • to explore ways in which our approach to initial teacher education might reflect more accurately the current discourse on international education.

Through this inaugural conference of the ITTUN, we intend to explore some of the major questions and challenges facing international education and to provide a forum for debate that brings together students and researchers in a shared space of exchange.

If you are from a university providing initial teacher education in an international context and are interested in joining the ITTUN, we’d love to hear from you! Please contact karen.taylor@ecolint.ch to find out more.
