The Oxford Brookes IPGCE and Ecolint Professional Practice Certificate
Taken together, the Oxford Brookes accredited IPGCE and the Ecolint Professional Practice Certificate provide both a part time academic IPGCE programme and an immersive part-time teacher development programme that focus on learning and teaching in culturally, linguistically, and neurodiverse student populations.
The IPGCE is offered and delivered online by Oxford Brookes University, UK. The Ecolint Professional Practice Certificate is offered and delivered in-person by the International School of Geneva (Ecolint), in Geneva. These two complementary programmes run over 12 months from September - August with the final summer months dedicated to completion of post-graduate level academic assignments on the Oxford Brookes iPGCE.
Who is it for?
These two programmes, taken together, offer an ideal teacher development pathway for those who are already working in a pedagogical role in linguistically and culturally diverse educational settings, who may or may not have a formal teacher certification.
Why this combination?
These combined pathways provide both an internationally recognised IPGCE from Oxford Brookes University and an enriching professional development programme from Ecolint focused on reflective professional practice and mentoring.
This unique combination allows you to develop both academically and professionally:
- You are supported to stand back and reflect on your classroom practice and consider the pedagogy of teaching - how teachers teach and why.
- Engaging with academic research and conducting your own action research project will help you apply what you learn in your classroom, school or wider community.
- You will gain the knowledge and skills needed to enhance your career in international education.
How do these elements work together?
1. IPGCE Modules
Oxford Brookes delivers 3 academic modules online over three semesters (autumn, spring, summer) that comprise the IPGCE, through a combination of asynchronous and synchronous content. You will have formal assessments at the end of each module. In the assignments, you will explore different aspects of educational theory and practice. For more information about the IPGCE modules and application process, please contact Oxford Brookes directly. Successful completion of the Oxford Brookes Programme provides a validated International Post-graduate Certificate in Education*.
2. Ecolint Professional Practice Certificate
Professional Practice Module:
Led by professional teacher trainers, the module is focused on the pedagogy of teaching and designed to focus on learning and teaching in culturally, linguistically, and neurodiverse student populations.
Classroom Practice:
Classroom practice takes place on-site in your current school. You will be allocated a mentor teacher from your school and will also receive formal observations and feedback from the Ecolint teacher trainers.
