The first sessions of the module Learning Principles: A Thinking Toolkit for Teachers taught by Patrick Alexander of Oxford Brookes University have been very well received and the exchanges among colleagues rich and stimulating. Look for the next modules we will put in place for 2023-2024!  Here again is the Learning Principles Monograph (version française ici) that outlines the Ecolint Essentials

4. Ecolint/Durham University Initial Teacher Training Programme (PGCE International)

Do you know anyone in your personal or professional network who has always dreamed of becoming a teacher? We are currently accepting applications for our 2023/24 Initial Teacher Education programme. Delivered through a collaborative partnership with Durham University UK and the International School of Geneva, this full-time, face-to-face course runs for one academic year in Geneva.

The course provides an internationally recognised teaching qualification, the PGCE International, the IB certificate in teaching and learning (IBctl), amongst others, and in-depth training and classroom practice tailored to working in international education. Anyone interested can find out more here or reach out to the ITE team at institute@ecolint.ch.

5. New Professional Teacher Training - The Oxford Brookes IPGCE and Ecolint Professional Practice Certificate (part-time)

Taken together, the Oxford Brookes accredited IPGCE and the Ecolint Professional Practice Certificate provide both a part time academic IPGCE programme and an immersive part-time teacher development programme that focus on learning and teaching in culturally, linguistically, and neurodiverse student populations.

These two programmes, which both run over 1 year, offer an ideal teacher development pathway for those who are already working in a pedagogical role in linguistically and culturally diverse educational settings or who may not have a formal teacher certification.

The IPGCE is offered and delivered online by Oxford Brookes University, UK. The Ecolint Professional Practice Certificate is offered and delivered in-person by the International School of Geneva (Ecolint), in Geneva. Applications are currently being accepted for September 2023.

Find out more here and attend our upcoming online information session on Tuesday 31 January at 12.30 CET (please register here).

This document includes the aligned policies and procedures for learning support and ESP in all schools, primary and secondary and emphasizes our commitment to shared responsibility for the success of all our learners.

Read about our latest co-teacher training session (version française ici) with Ochan and Kristen from Next Frontier Inclusion written by Natalie Adams Perrin, Teacher Trainer at the Ecolint Institute.

7. Teacher Education for Democracy and Wellbeing

It was exciting to learn about new research projects on intercultural learning and global citizenship education. Our discussions were enriched by the many perspectives we brought to these issues. Participants came from different contexts: Sweden, Iceland, France, Germany, the Netherlands, and Kenya to name but a few. As educators we often share similar challenges and concerns but also purpose.

By the end of our two rich days together we had begun to form connections and lay the groundwork for future collaboration that I look forward to sharing with you in the future.
